Noel Power receiving the award of beekeeper of the year from FIBKA President Eamon Magee
The Federation of Irish Beekeepers held its annual beekeeping summer school in Gormanston College Co.Meath at the end of July. Each year beekeepers are nominated from Associations around the country to acknowledge the work put in by beekeepers in their own locality. This year the award was made to Noel Power from Ballincollig. Noel was chairman of Cork for a number of years, apiary manager for over 28 years and also served on the FIBKA executive representing Co Cork beekeepers for many years. He also served on the FIBKA education board. There is no way anybody could account for the time Noel committed to teaching others the skills required for beekeeping and national recognition awarded to him is just a token to acknowledge his commitment.
